brief background on host institution-Ho technical university (HTU)

Ho Technical University (HTU) has a rich history of advancing technical, vocational, and applied sciences education. Established in 1968 as a Technical Institute, the institution was committed to providing pre-technical education in engineering, agriculture, and business-related disciplines.

Over the years, HTU evolved into a Polytechnic in 1986, before being granted full tertiary status in 1993 under PNDC Law 321. This transition empowered the institution to train highly skilled professionals in various technical and vocational fields at the Higher National Diploma (HND) level.

With the passage of the Technical Universities Act 2016 (Act 922), as amended by Act 2018 (Act 974), Ho Technical University attained full university status, granting it the authority to award degrees, diplomas, and certifications in Engineering, Science & Technology, Applied Arts, Technical & Vocational Education, and related disciplines. Today, HTU continues to be a center of excellence for career-focused education, skill development, and industry-driven research.

The vision of Ho Technical University is to become a reputable technical university contributing actively to national and international development.

Its mission is to train highly competent human resources to the highest level possible through career-focused education, skill training, and research in partnership with stakeholders.
