With great pleasure, I welcome you, on behalf of the Local Organising Committee (LOC), to the Food, Agriculture, Technology & Sustainability (FATAS) Conference 2026.

Building on the remarkable success of FATAS 2025, this year's conference takes a bold step towards integrating food systems in Africa through innovation and resilience for the future. The conversations, collaborations, and innovations that emerged from last year's gathering have reinforced the need and possibility of transforming how we produce, distribute, and sustain food across the continent.

As Africa faces interconnected challenges of climate change, population growth, food security, and environmental sustainability, the need for resilient, inclusive, and technology-driven food systems has never been more critical. FATAS 2026 offers a renewed platform for researchers, industry leaders, policymakers, and practitioners to deepen dialogue and share insights and solutions that advance the creation of sustainable and equitable food systems on the Continent.

As Chairman of the LOC, I am proud of the foundation we have laid for empirical dialogue on the need for sustainable food and agriculture, underpinned by evolving and resilient technologies. We are committed to delivering a conference that continues to advance knowledge and fosters meaningful action and lasting partnerships.
