Before You Travel

1. Visa Requirements

Check if you need a visa to enter Ghana and apply in advance. Only registered participants will receive a formal invitation letter for visa application.

2. Passport Validity

All persons entering Ghana must have a valid passport or Travel Document (Laisser-Passer or international agency documents recognized by the Government of Ghana).

3. Vaccinations

Consult your doctor for required vaccinations (Yellow fever certificate is mandatory for entry into Ghana).

4. Travel Insurance

It is strongly advised to have travel insurance covering unexpected medical or travel-related expenses.

At Kotoka Airport (Accra)

  • Arrival Procedures: Immigration, customs, and baggage claim.
  • Currency Exchange: Exchange to Ghanaian Cedis (GHS) or use ATMs.
  • Local SIM Card: Purchase a local SIM for affordable calls/data.
  • Time Zone: Ghana GMT (no daylight saving).
  • Weather: Tropical climate, 22°C – 32°C (72°F – 90°F). Light clothing recommended.
Health & Safety: Take precautions against malaria (use mosquito repellent), yellow fever, and practice good hygiene.

Transportation to Ho – Conference Venue

Public / Private Options

Ride-hailing services (Uber/Bolt) and airport taxis are available at Kotoka International Airport to the STC bus terminal in Accra. From the terminal, take a bus to Ho. Once in Ho, any local taxi will take you to your hotel.

Conference-Arranged Transport

Special shuttle: A dedicated bus will be available at the airport for registered participants and presenters arriving on 15th November 2025, departing directly to Ho at 15:00 GMT.

Additional Tips for International Guests

Safety & Security

Take necessary precautions: avoid isolated areas at night, keep valuables secure, and stay aware of your surroundings. Ghana is generally welcoming and safe for travelers.

Health & Hygiene

Use mosquito nets/reppelent, drink bottled water, and wash hands regularly. Yellow fever vaccination certificate is required upon arrival.

Weather & Packing

Expect warm, humid conditions (22–32°C). Light breathable fabrics, sunscreen, and a light jacket for cooler evenings. November is partly rainy – umbrella recommended.
